Friends jaisa ki ham jante hai jab light ek transparent medium par incident karti hai to us light ka refraction hota hai lekin kuch condition me light ka refraction na hokar light ka reflection ho jata hai. Isi ghatna ko total internal reflection kaha jata hai. lekin hame detail me janna hoga ki total internal reflection kya hota hai.

Aap jaisa ki image me dekh rhe hai ki jab light denser medium se rarer medium me jaa rha hai to bah normal se away bend kar ja rha hai. Agar ham angle of incidence ko continuous badhate jaye to angle of refraction ka bhi value lagatar badhta jaega. Isi tarah ek aisa bhi time aaega jab light bend karte-karte surface ko bilkul touch karke pass karega. Jab light surface ko bilkul touch kar ke pass karta hai to us time ke angle of incidence ko critical angle kahte hai hindi me critical angle ko krantik kon kha jata hai. Jab incidence angle ko critical angle se bhi jyada kiya jata hai to light refract na hokar reflect ho jata hai. Isi ghatna ko total Internal reflection kha jata hai. 

Definition of total internal reflection
When light ray goes from denser to rarer medium and if angle of incidence is greater then critical angle then light doesn’t refract rather it reflects this phenomenon is known as total internal reflection.

 Condition of total internal reflection

Total internal reflection ke lie kuch condition bahut jaruri hai agar light total internal reflection ke condition ko follow nhi karta hai to uska total internal reflection nhi hoga. Islie total internal reflection ke dono condition ko follow karna bahut hi jaruri hai.

(1) Ray of light must should be travel from denser to rarer medium:- Total internal reflection ke lie yah 1st condition hai. jab light denser se rarer medium me jata hai to uska total internal reflection ho sakta hai lekin jab light rarer se denser medium me jata hai to uska kabhi bhi total internal reflection nhi hoga kyonki jab light rarer se denser medium me jata hai to light normal ke towards bend karta hai islie iska total internal reflection kabhi bhi possible nhi hai.

(2) Angle of incidence should be greater than critical angle:- Ham upar figure me clear dekh sakte hai ki jab tak angle of incidence ka value critical angle se chota hota hai tab tak Total internal reflection nhi hota hai lekin jab angle of incidence ka value critical angle se bada hota hai to total internal reflection hone lgta hai. Islie yah jaruri hai ki total internal reflection ke lie angle of incidence ka value critical angle se jyada hona chahiea.

Application of total internal reflection

total internal reflection ka bahut hi use hota hai. Islie different-different work me apply kar ke iska use kliya jata hai. total internal reflection ke nimnlikhit application hai.

(1) Mirage:-  

Mirage ek tarike ka bhram hota hai jo garmi ke dino me hota hai. Mirage ke karan aisa pratit hota hai ki jaise khi dur par pani gira hua hai. Lekin realy me aisa nhi hota hai. Bas aadmi ko aisa lagta hai ki bha pani gira hua hai. Generally mirage pitch road par hota hai. Jab aap pitch roard par jaaege to aapko aisa lagega ki bha pani gira hua hai. islie Mirage ka principle total internal reflection par based hai.

(2) Optical fiber :- 

Optical fiber ek pipe jaisa structure hota hai jo total internal reflection par work karta hai. Optical fiber ke jariye light signal ko ek bindu se dusre bindu tak send kiya jata hai. Iske jariye light signal ko transmit kiya jata hai.

(3) Diamond :- 

Diamond ke kafi chamkila hone ka karan bhi total internal reflection hi hota hai. Total internal reflection ke karan hi diamond kafi chamkila hota hai. Diamond ka critical angle bahut hi kam hota hai. Islie diamond se total internal reflection bahut hi jyada hota hai aur diamond bahut hi chamakta hai.
